There are several different options for your CHA. For quantitative data, we use the CASPER method to select 210 random households to answer survey questions focused on the household for easy data collection and participation. We develop surveys with an average response time of 10-15 minutes and ask more than 60 questions. We craft our questions so you can collect as much data as possible while making the experience user-friendly. We integrate Survey123 into ArcGIS Dashboards and Hub for a near real-time data collection process.

We conduct Focus Groups with approximately 8 to 10 people in each group. Depending on the size of your community, we strongly suggest having a minimum of 4 focus groups on average. This approach ensures that we gather specific and detailed answers. Hosting more focus groups also allows us to diversify the participants and ensure that less enfranchised community members have the opportunity to participate. Our analysis and visualization of the focus group data is powered by ATLAS.ti.

Community listening sessions can be held for groups of 20-40 people, and we suggest organizing multiple sessions across different municipalities based on community size. These sessions have pros and cons. On one hand, they allow gathering input from less empowered community members, but on the other hand, they may lead to non-response bias if a few dominant voices discourage others from speaking up.

Stakeholder interviews are comprehensive but generally more expensive. They involve key stakeholders and community representatives, offering thorough feedback on community health concerns. Every person’s input is heard, which can be challenging in focus groups or community sessions.

Windshield/Walking surveys provide valuable opportunities for your staff and partner organizations to thoroughly explore your community and visually identify potential disparities. Our use of ArcGIS enhances these surveys by enabling the collection of photos, information, and geolocation data for in-depth analysis.
